Sony closed out PlayStation Experience today with a reveal trailer for the long-anticipated The Last of Us Part 2. In it, Ellie sings a folk song and vows revenge. And there’s a special guest star: Joel.

Neil Druckmann, creative director at developer Naughty Dog, said The Last of Us Part 2 is still “early days,” but promised additional details in the coming months.

“I can’t tell you how satisfying it is to finally be able to say that Ellie and Joel are back for another intense, harrowing, and emotional adventure,” Druckmann said on the PlayStation Blog. “Like many of you, we have a deep love for the world of The Last of Us and its characters, and while a sequel may have seemed like a foregone conclusion, that wasn’t the case. We knew that it needed to be a story worth telling and, perhaps more importantly, a story worthy of Joel and Ellie. After spending years on different ideas (and almost giving up), we finally uncovered a story that felt special — a story that evolved into an epic journey.”

The Last of Us Part 2 has been a sure thing ever since the award-winning hit debuted on PlayStation 3 in 2013 and was remastered for PlayStation 4 in 2014. Nolan North — no, he’s not the voice of Joel, That Other Guy, Troy Baker, is — said in 2015 that he knew for sure TLOU2 was in development.

"For now I know they're doing Last of Us 2, but my character in Last of Us kind of met an untimely demise," North said to an audience member at a Metrocon panel in 2015. North played a relatively minor role in the original game. Baker, on the other hand, said “I don't know if we're gonna do another one or not.”

One of the best games of the past decade. Probably won't see this sequel for a few years.

Isn't that at the end of it's run? Or does it have a couple years left yet?
There is definately time left. the new one has more balls and a better video card in it and can do 4k. It's like the 4.5

Thanks. Might make that my gimmick. You've got the "complete twat" character all wrapped up.
Oh! It's my fault you can't answer a question. I see. Watch this next quote to see how relevant information is conveyed.

Good to know. Thanks, Chumpy. Much appreciated.

As long as they fired the cunt responsible for the boss fight in the burning building in the first game, I am in.

"Marginalized people". You mean the people you'd bitch about not being in a game if it were comprised of all white men?

It looked great to me. It's a post-apocolyptic world. Shit will go down. I like how it introduces the new chars

Naughty Dog are either retarded or geniuses.

They said a few months ago that there would be multiplayer, then, a few days after the release of this trailer, they said that there wasn't. People went nuts because Factions is still popular 6 years after the release of the original. Then they said something along the lines of "there will be something for multiplayer fans etc... Then, a few days later, Playstation made TLOU one of the free games on PS+. Since October the first, the noobs have flooded Factions.

Have they been playing 4D chess? Getting everyone to talk up Factions, get people on it and create even more hype for TLOU2? The micro-transactions were all on the multiplayer and that's what the people come back for long after the story has lost it's lustre. So it makes massive business sense to do it.
