He missed the part where R2D2 not going to Luke means Luke joins the Empire as a pilot. He likely would come to the attention of either Vader, who would try to train him as an apprentice, or the Emperor, Who would likely have turned him into an Emperor's Hand.

No Jedi training for Luke=Vader never returns to the light and there is nothing to stop the Emperor.

As a side note, that would make an excellent "Elseworlds" style story. "What if R5 didn't intentionally blow his motivator....."

Okay, so then Luke goes home with a droid that can actually help his father out with the moisture farming who doesn't wander out in the middle of the night to bring a message to Obi Wan. R2D2 could figure out a new way to escape and make it to Obi Wan, or he gets decomissioned and sold for scrap. If so, Alderaan still gets blown to shit and Leia gives up Dantooine as the rebel base and the Empire moves to that solar system to destroy that planet too. The existence of the rebel base, however, is NOT compromised because no tracker was put on the Millennium Falcon because there's no Luke to go rescue. So Dantooine is destroyed but then the rebels are still free to plot an attack from their secret base on the moon by Yavin IV.
At some point, the rebels, knowing that they had already sent Jyn Erso to get this secret information, are wondering why they trusted the key Death Star weaknesses to a flash drive plugged into an R2 unit that was picked up by scavengers as soon as it hit. They might try a salvage mission to try to get the wreckage of the Correllian Cruiser because surely that data was cached on there somewhere, and since the whole empire is floating around Dantooine now, one imagines that it wouldn't be that hard to find some sort of black-box hard drive that received the little missile-through-hole icon that broke everything wide open for the Rebellion. Of course then they could try another assault on the death star if they finally get the information that way, and assuming Porkins gets his act together and uses his targeting system like a pro instead of the farm boy who had to talk to some guy who cut his dad's legs off and acted like he didn't know who he was to get the shot off, they still destroy the death star.
Now the Empire has no death star and no knowledge still of the Yavin IV base because Han Solo just goes on being a 'famous' smuggler so he doesn't get captured in Bespin and sent to Jabba, but the Bothans can still sacrifice themselves to bring the Rebellion the knowledge that the new construction of the Death Star is protected by a moon shield. There's no Han Solo or Lando, so now it's up to Admiral Ackbar to fly the routes while someone else handles the stuff on the ground. Are they successful? Maybe, maybe not, but since the Empire never caught on to their base, they've still got a safe base of operations to keep trying this shit and pull back if unsuccessful.

Seems like things work out better.
You know if Galen Erso had just told Jyn in his hologram message to "launch torpedoes into the exhaust port" all of this freaking nonsense could have been avoided.

Then how would we have the drama of whether or not Jyn was going to find Wifi on top of a literal cell tower?

Luke joins the Empire as a pilot. "
Owen would have never let Luke leave the farm. More likely Obi Wan would have eventually decided he would have to confront Luke and reveal his destiny.

I’m gonna call bullshit on this.

Uncle Owen was holding Luke back from the Academy, and was going to continue to do so. Not because he needed the help, but because he wasn’t going to let Luke anywhere near dear old dad. At the point where Luke said “oh go fuck yourself”, Owen would have called Obi Wan to intervene.

In fact, I think things play out almost the same way. Obi Wan would have felt Alderaan’s destruction and come for Luke. At the time he didn’t know it was Alderaan, so he would have tried to take Luke there to reunite him with Leia, found it destroyed, and gotten captured the same way. Threepio would have alerted them that Leia was a prisoner, Obi Wan would have said “your sister, bro.” They would rescue her. R5D4 could download the Death Star schematics before they escape, and the rest plays out as it did before.

Ta Da!

Luke throws a fit, unaware of his Force powers, kills Owen and Beru accidentally. He runs off confused and scared before anyone finds out. Except Obi Wan and Vader who sense it.

Shitty continuation.

He heads to Mos Eisley where he tries to run off via freighter. Enter Han Solo. Obi Wan catches him first and also hops aboard to keep watch over Luke. History plays out to what happened before. Unless Luke's forcejaculation makes him more susceptible to the Dark Side. But more than likely it plays out as it originally did.

Luke joins the local podracing circuit. Jabba recalls the last time a human was able to successfully pilot a podracer and starts putting two and two together. Some things happen, Darth Maul shows up and I don't know where I was going with this.

Actually, if anything delayed Luke and Obi Wan's arrival to Alderaan, Leia would have been executed. The Rebellion may have rallied around the destruction of Alderaan and the memory of the Organa family. At some point Biggs may have returned to Tattooine and convinced Luke to join the Rebellion. Biggs may have also been sent on a mission to locate Obi Wan, similar to Poe in the beginning of TFA. Luke and Obi Wan meet up on the way to Yavin IV and Obi Wan begins to teach him the ways of the force. Luke becomes their top pilot and they begin to turn the tide on battles with the Empire. Eventually the Rebellion needs to acquire another set of plans to determine the weak spot. Enter the Bothan Spies.

War befalls Luke's homeless hideaway so Jar Jar Binks is sent in on a mission to relocate all the porgs to Endor's forest moon where they can live in peace and harmony with the Ewoks. Unbeknownst to JJB every copy of the Star Wars Holiday Special was secretly stowed away on his ship and when he touches down with the porg population, the moon is immediately vaporized by a now active Death Star. Evil music plays and the camera pans up to reveal who's in control--it's George fucking Lucas gleefully murdering his own creation next to a hogtied and gagged Mickey Mouse.

During the harvest Owen is injured in a fall and is unable to work. Aunt Beru is forced to turn tricks in order to pay the bills and ends up with a Half Tuskan child.

Meanwhile, Luke, who is in a depression because he had to stay one more season, gets addicted to spice and spends all his time in Jabas spice dens.
