OK me and Roche are going to this tonight. I don't follow strikeforce so can someone give me a short run down on who these fighters are, which ones stand out? I know Overeem and Werdum, and I've heard of Rogers and Barnett, that's it/

JZ Cavalcante is really talented.
Conor Heun is a 10th Planet Brown Belt and always brings the fight to his opponent.
Daniel Cormier is a fuck of a wrestler and great heavyweight prospect.
Jeff Monson fought for the UFC Heavyweight Title, went 5 rounds. Very tough guy. Won ADCC submission grappling championship twice. Very experienced. Crazy anarchist.
KJ Noons has great boxing.
Barnett has great submissions.
Rogers is a bum with big power in his hands.

Then you pretty much have your bases covered.

Overeem is one of those HW's that has the "potential" to be great, he hasn't faced the best competition, (although he tried like crazy to fight Fedor, but for some reason Fedor always had an excuse not to). Its the "potential" factor that has many fans excited about whether or not he really is as good as people think he is. His one knock is that he might have a suspect chin, but that was while he was a fighting at LHW and before he got on the horse meat diet.

Werdum is probably the best BJJ in the HW's today. He also has a win over Overeem, but that was 5 years ago. Werdum has been working on his stand up with Wanderlei, but his best chance at winning is taking the fight to the ground.

Barnett is probably best known for getting caught using PED's not once, not twice, but three times. He has all the talent in the world, but his inability to stay of the juice (or at least not get caught) is what makes fans question if he really should be taken seriously. But make no mistake about it, he is a legit threat to win the whole tourney.

Rogers is your typical brawler, he loves to strike and if catches you, odds are you're going down. Not much to say though, besides striking, his a pretty pedestrian fighter. Then again, maybe he has worked on his ground game.

Cormier is a former Olympic wrestler. He train at AKA with the likes of Cain, Fitch and Koscheck. It goes without saying his wrestling is his bread and butter, but he has some striking skills.

Monson is a veteran of the sport, he's a small HW, but he's going to be the most well rounded fighter Cormier has faced. He's up there in age though, so his best days are behind him. I still have him getting the upset. I'm just not convinced with Cormier yet.

Noons has good boxing, and Masdival is a good wrestler, bot are good fighters and they should put on a show.

Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum
Josh Barnett vs. Brett Rogers
K.J. Noons vs. Jorge Masvidal
Daniel Cormier vs. Jeff Monson
Valentijn Overeem vs. Chad Griggs
Gesias JZ Cavalcante vs. Justin Wilcox
Conor Heun vs. Magno Almeida
Nah-Shon Burrell vs. Joe Ray
Todd Moore vs. Mike Bronzoulis
Brian Melancon vs. Isaac Vallie-Flagg

I don't know that I've ever seen Overeem fight. What's with the horse meat diet, and why does googling it show results almost exclusively associated with Overeem?

I notice the guy who knocked him out at LHW was Shogun.

Horse meat isn't sold in a lot of places. I believe it is illegal in the U.S. but I know you can buy it in canada.

it might be, i'm watching prelims now too, when i checked showtime it says delayed instead of live.
They might add in like a 5 minute delay or something, but it's definatly being broadcast at the time the fights are happening.
