I got some insider info from an uber insider. I'm talking star chamber insider.

Home Depot is booming, but they're going to be closing some seriously underperforming stores.

Most of those stores are in St. Louis... aroundabouts the Ferguson area.

Turns out, smashing up your neighborhood, and burning shit down... not all that good for business.

Who knew?

I wouldn't be surprised if they closed some stores around Baltimore.

Home Depot is booming,

Speaking of Home Depot, I heard a comment today that shocked me. Years ago a candy distributor approached them about putting candy at the registers. They originally said no because they are a hardware store. After giving in and stocking candy, HD is now the second biggest seller of candy. Amazing.

It could also be that “home improvement” isn’t something that interests people who don’t own homes, it’s one thing renters like to do, it’s not fix shit. Ran into that in my own home, and a prime reason I didn’t fix up my property to to rent, the last thing I wanted to deal with was a phone call at 2am because the heater would only heat up to 75 on a 0deg day or they snapped the handle off the toilet

I don’t find that shocking at all, contractors don’t get paid to eat, so they eat a shit load of candy and junk food, also, if you’re using the company account why not throw a few candybars onto the order

All of our local HD's have a food truck parked out front too, slinging burgers and dogs. I imagine they do a brisk business with the local contractor clientele.

I'm getting paid to eat if I'm working on your project and I'm not shopping at Home Depot, we've got real lumber yards in the Midwest. HD is for home owners.

Local real estate agent here is putting a 9600 SQ foot addition on their headquarters doubling the size. Homes are selling fast with agents advertising that they're looking for homes with buyers ready.

I'm pretty sure Fezman is referring to the contractors that visit Home Depot in the morning to recruit their daily help, and then visit at noon when the bucket of 16p nails runs out.

Exactly, I’m not talking about “home builders” or large contracting companies, I’m talking about fixer upper guys, the types that shop at depot.
Funny depot story, I’m a regular at my local store, I have a 100yr old house, shit is always broke or in need of something and I’ve got a million hobbies centric to handy type stuff.
Almost every morning I go there, there are are two Asian fellows, usually dressed in “uniforms” like you would see on an Asian construction site, white or blue coveralls white cotton work gloves, and hard hats, almost always picking up lumber or other “carpentry” stuff, it’s interesting to watch them work and load their cart, I’ve never heard them speak but the will pick up every piece of wood and nspect it in unison then toss the crap and keep the good, and they have a very new and clean cab over work van. I’m always curious about tha because in this neck of the woods Asians are button pushers and such, not carpenters

I must, once again, repeat a Rush mantra. Remember: Lefty voters actually believe the lies. They honestly believe taxing the rich at higher and higher rates will make the lives of middle and, especially, lower income people better. They absolutely DON'T believe lower taxes and regulation lead to more jobs. They DO believe that companies are making money hand over fist and that they can easily absorb the added cost from the taxes.

They believe the only reason Trump lowered taxes was to line the pockets of his "rich cronies". And they actually believe that government restrictions on businesses and funneling money to social programs will bring everyone to a higher income level.

Just like they actually believe Kav (who likes beer) is a grapist and Trump stole the election by colluding with Russia.

They believe the Trump economy is either an accident or a result of Obama policies and that wanting the border closed is racist.

They think man-made global warming is real, that we have just decades of fossil fuels left and that nuclear power is abhorrently dangerous.

They really think Obamacare would have worked, everyone has the right to health care and basic income and that socialism is the future.

They don't believe there is any voter fraud except that W. Bush stole his election.

They think all the accusations of corruption against the Obama administration are just lies and that the Mueller investigation is 100% on the up and up.

Every silly thing that makes you think "they can't actually believe that", they do.

For two generations they have been spoon fed indoctrination in their schools and colleges and they truly believe all of it.

Mueller Probes Possible Witness Intimidation by Roger Stone
Former Trump adviser angry that radio personality Randy Credico denies being WikiLeaks conduit
Nov. 14, 2018

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is looking into whether Roger Stone, shown here before his testimony to the House Intelligence Committee in 2017, had direct contact with WikiLeaks. Photo: J. Scott Applewhite/Associated Press

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office is exploring whether longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone tried to intimidate and discredit a witness who is contradicting Mr. Stone’s version of events about his contacts with WikiLeaks, according to people who have spoken to Mr. Mueller’s investigators.

In grand jury sessions and interviews, prosecutors have repeatedly asked about emails, text messages and online posts involving Mr. Stone and his former friend, New York radio personality Randy Credico, the people said. Mr. Stone has asserted that Mr. Credico was his backchannel to WikiLeaks, a controversial transparency group, an assertion Mr. Credico denies.

Mr. Mueller’s investigators are probing whether Mr. Stone had direct contact with WikiLeaks and knew ahead of time about its release of stolen Democratic emails, as he claimed during the campaign and now denies. Mr. Stone says he is angry at Mr. Credico because his ex-friend has “refused to tell the truth” about being his conduit to WikiLeaks.

This is true. I have a lib doc that is very smart. He believes most of what you wrote. The other day he told me the electoral college was outdated and never should have been implemented. He said the only reason it was put in place was that getting the votes from all around the country back to one place to be counted was next to impossible and would take forever. Then he says it is crazy to have a state like n Dakota with as much power in some cases as Cali. He said popular vote is the only way. I asked him if that happens what do you tell people who do not live in Cali, ny, Illinois, nj, and gawd forbid Texas turns blue. Why would they even vote. Why should 5 states or so have the power over the other 45 states which is basically what would happen. Do the repubs even bother running for prez? He had no answer for that but insisted the pop. Vote is the way. He also thinks it is absurd to vote on a Tuesday and for only one day. The internet should be the answer.

Yes this will go well for my 401k. Mad max wants to keep the man down, easier to control. No no you see not having regulation caused the collapse and having regulation gave us this historic market.

Cavuto Panel: Did 'Chairwoman' Maxine Waters' Warning Cause Stock Sell-Off

Neil Cavuto and his financial panel on Wednesday discussed whether a curt warning from incoming House Financial Services Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters caused the New York Stock Exchange to start a selloff.
The NYSE index finished the trading day down about 206 points -- or 8/10 of a percentage point. The Dow Jones Industrial Average [DJIA] began to dip as well after the 10:14 AM ET comments by Waters.
"You might need to look no further than Maxine Waters -- who was speaking, then got stocks selling," Cavuto said.
On Capitol Hill, Waters, a South Los Angeles Democrat, warned that people should "make no mistake -- come January in this committee, the days of this committee weakening regulations and putting our economy once again at risk of another financial crisis will come to an end."
Cavuto said Waters was referring to the slackening of strict regulations tacked on banks and other financial institutions as time passed since the 2008 meltdown.
FreedomWorks economic freedom director John Tamny said the warning was "well telegraphed, but naive."

The incoming head of the Financial Services Committee has made the Top 10 list of "Most Corrupt Senators" for the last 10 years. Her making overt threats to saddle business and industry with crippling regulations couldn't possibly have prompted a bear market.

Unpossible.

Must be Trump's fault.

I saw a video recently looking at the difference between Home Depot and Lowes, and their relationship to the economy. When the economy is doing well, the majority of their business come from contractors rather than consumers. Home Depot has always kept a pretty even balance between the two, while Lowes tends to shift their marketing and inventory from one to the other depending on the economy, and local conditions.

Yup...it worked so well in 2006 when Democrats won back the house (and Senate). Granted back then, we were already on the path towards a really bad recession...but without question, it was exacerbated by our new "Honest, Transparent, and Open" dem leadership.

And that's a big reason how we got 8 years of Obama. That Great Recession was solely Bush and the Republicans fault. They caused it with their lower taxes and letting the greedy banks run wild and get mega rich. Obama was the guy to come in and save the country...which he did by shoring up the banks with bailouts (started under Bush and dem govt) and a massive $1T stimulus package that brought everyone out of poverty and fixed everything. At least....that's what the news and lefty history books will tell you.

But thats exactly what the Democrats need now...a repeat of that in order to oust Trump in 2020. If they can somehow cause just enough instability in the markets and economy...they'll be able to run on how Trump's 1st two years were so disastrous and how they've now got to come in and fix it again, like Obama did in 2009. And even if Trump manages to win in 2020, the dems are hoping the shitty economy will give them more seats to impeach Trump for colluding with Russia again to steal the 2020 election.

Bush actually sending out “refund” checks was probably one of the stupidest things I had ever seen
