Picked this up today. I'm not too far in but simply...it's fucking great. The controls are spot on, the graphics are indulgent, the story in enthralling. Lara is a person now, not a super character. Her strength comes from necessity, not years of knowledge built into confidence.

As you can tell, I'm loving it.

Except when you're actually playing her, and she's a brutal killing machine. Watching a review, some of those killing blows shows a huge contrast to the weepy, vulnerable moments.

What I liked about the original game is the learning curve was very short for controlling her, so you coukd play the game. Too many button combinations fuck me up. Forget fighting or sports games, I just can't.

I wouldn't know about that. The only way i can kill right now is with a gun and bow.

And she is supposed to be trained, just not tried at all.

No, but she does get impaled by just about everything in the environment when you die in the game. I'm not even joking. My favorite death pseudo-cut scene is Lora getting impaled by a tree branch.

I beat the game last week. Great game but zero replay value, no new game plus mode or bonus for playing through a second time.

With a little work...
And that's just the 'tame' stuff.

The guy who makes the mass effect scenes with in-game 3D models gets quite creative.

Beat the game last night. It was pretty damn fun! Replay value? Meh.... probably won't touch my Xbox tray again.

Tomb Raider Next-Gen Sequel Confirmed

It's "well into development" too.
Square Enix has confirmed it is working on a Tomb Raider sequel for the next generation of consoles.

In an open letter, the company's Western CEO Phil Rogers confirmed that a sequel has been in development for some time.

"I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel – something you may have heard about recently," he wrote.

A sequel was pretty much guaranteed considering the game's success. We heard at Comic-Con this year that Dark Horse comics were producing a series set after the conclusion of the first game and designed to lead into the eventual follow-up.

Still, it's good to know for certain that the game is in development, that it's making good progress, and that it'll be on next-gen consoles everywhere. Be sure to let us know what you'd like to see in a sequel in the comments.
