A SICK internet "troll" who posted vile videos and messages mocking the deaths of teenagers — including a girl who threw herself under a train — was jailed for just 18 weeks yesterday.

Twisted Sean Duffy, 25, targeted Facebook tribute pages and even posted videos on YouTube taunting the dead and their families.

Among his victims was 15-year-old Natasha MacBryde, whose body was found on Valentine's Day after a train hit her near her home in Bromsgrove, Worcs.

In a practice known as trolling, Duffy posted vile comments including "I fell asleep on the track lolz" on the Facebook tribute page created by her brother James, 17.

Five days after her death he created a YouTube video called Tasha the Tank Engine, with her face etched on to the front of the famous train.

Turtle from Entourage and E-Rock had a baby?

In one of the first cases of its kind, the autistic loner was sentenced to 18 weeks behind bars and banned from using social networking sites for five years.
God damn it AtlantaHardcore.

I take offense to how the article makes it seem as though 18 weeks is not enough.

Depends... What color is your state on election day?

Considering this was in England, it would have absolutely no bearing.

The most you'd get here is a fine unless the families filed a restraining order, in which case he could go to jail for violation and contempt of court.

And don't for a second fool yourself into believing that this would be a "liberal" issue. The "family value conservatives" are just as bad as the "hate speech liberals" when it comes to this shit if not worse. If you don't understand that, you need to take a step back.

It's a sad day when a man can be jailed for acting like a wackbagger.

This story seriously scared me until I read the things he'd written. I'm convinced he'd have gotten away with it if his comments had any comedic value whatsoever.
Offending someone should never be a jailable offense, no matter how terrible you are.

I'm not saying I agree with it, just that it makes me feel better. I'm not likely to be arrested for this kind of thing because when I do it I'm funny enough to have the mother of the murdered girl rolling on the floor laughing. I also can't deny however much it's an abuse of free speech it's quite funny to see one of these witless Internet badasses have the shit backfire on him.

He shouldn't go to jail, they should just have him and the family square off and go at it in a pugilistic fashion, with a sock on tha jaw

Well our Limey wackbaggers are posting, so it couldn't have been one of them

There is a bit of a difference between being an asshole on a message board or in comment sections and in actively trying to directly hurt the families.

Half the nasty shit said here or on the show wouldn't ever be said to the people's faces (see Whoopie incident)

I'm pretty sure that he would have gone to jail here too, only it would have been for violating a restraining order.

Freedom of speech does not mean you are allowed to harass someone.

He didn't post these things on his own facebook page, he went to the tribute pages the families made and was acting like an asshole.

In this country, they would have filed a restraining order and if he did it again he would have been sent to jail for it.

In the UK, they apparently don't want lawyers to make a few extra thousand dollars and eliminate the middle step.

Freedom of speech doesn't allow you to go to your neighbors house and start calling his wife a cunt whore. I believe it would may be considered a misdemeanor assault (I'm on the internet, so i don't need any proof and i googled the following link, so i must be right http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Verbal+assault)
