So is this the new fearmongering focus now that the anti-vax movement seems to have been squashed? I've never heard of this.

LOL @ anyone that thinks this is harming them.

I loved it how the article kept using the term radiation and not stating what kind. RF radiation is not the same as ionizing radiation that you get from radioactive sources.

Just to be clear here... what these people are saying is that the cell phone that is mounted outside on the side of their houses that makes a call once-a-day for a few seconds... yeah... that's making them sick.

Here you can keep your analog meter... but you get to pay a one time charge of $40 (even though the meter is already there) and a $12 monthly fee to have someone come down and read it every two months.

Or you can get a smart meter that does not emit a radio signal for a one time charge of $20 and a $10.50 monthly fee.

Note most of these changes were made after CMP was sold to a Spanish multinational...

I wasn't happy regarding the instillation of smart meters here, but don't think they're dangerous in the least. Also if I want electricity delivered to my house it's something I have to accept. PG&E owns all the equipment up to the breaker box, so they have every right to replace that equipment as they see fit if someone wants continued service.

I live in a very hippiesh area of California, and they were protesting the new meters because they felt it was a way to keep watch on how much electricity they were using (maaaaaaaaaan) at certain times. I guess they didn't realize the old meters actually measured electricity also. Although a lot of people around here are dope growers, so they probably have a point. If the meter always spikes at 4 PM for two hours and then shuts off, something automatic is drawing a shit-load of power (lights & watering system).

Why not just build a Faraday Cage to shield the RF...You're not tampering with it..Then you could mount an unsightly meter to the front of the house and there will be no residual RF heading back into the house...I think I could make a mint selling $3 worth of chicken wire molded into a "RF safety cage"

Shit, the copper mesh screen used to make an actual faraday cage is actually quite expensive. A 3 inch by 3 inch swatch is about 10 bucks.
