WWE Champion C.M. Punk will not escort Chael Sonnen to the Octagon for his upcoming UFC fight in Chicago. Punk told MMAFighting.com that Vince McMahon decided against allowing Punk to appear at the January 28 event, which will be broadcast by FOX.
What a dumb fucking move by Vince

But now who's going to tell Sonnen when it's time to go up on the turnbuckle and drop the big elbow? Or distract Herb Dean while Sonnen pulls brass knuckles out of his shorts?

Wouldn't that be free advertising for WWE to their demographic with the largest viewership, 20 to 30 year old men?

"I FORBID YOU TO DO A FREE COMMERCIAL TO MILLIONS FOR THE COMPANY!"

Whatever you say.

This is the same guy who blew Cornette and Heymann off when they told Vince to not let the UFC stuff go on before and after WWE and exposed UFC to millions of viewers who didn't know anything about UFC.

Oops again.

I can understand that. The WWE is affiliated with NBC and he doesn't want to piss anyone off. Depending on how sensitive NBC management is I would probably make the same decision.

WWE performers go on other networks all the time (TV series, talk shows, etc.), that isn't the reason
It isn't like WWE or PUNK would promote it on RAW

Stop thinking like Opie. You know WWE superstars go on talk shows to promote the WWE. This is different and it's obviously a little bit sensitive with all the tv politics.

I don't think it's a big thing if goes on UFC and it's a big think if he doesn't. Why take any risks? That's what Vince is thinking.

No its not different
You brought up it was due to NBC & its not

Vince didn't want him associated with UFC, the same way he wouldn't mention that Rampage was a UFC fighter when he was on RAW - that was HIS Decision alone not USA/NBCU

Chael Sonnen & his fans are the closest thing to WWE that UFC has, far more than Brock plus this is in Punk's city of Chicago
The publicity would have been great & the exposure on Fox even bigger

Its a dumb move & making up reasons why it isn't happening is - BEING LIKE ANTHONY

;)

Try to think how upper NBC management is reasoning. "Why is my property on FOX, enhancing their new prime time show?".

You are not making sense
Its Fox that should have the issue not NBC, WWE gets the exposure

It was different with Lesnar because he was a legit wrestler, but to me it seems like a better thing for the UFC that Punk doesn't do it. WWE fans know about the UFC. Fans of the UFC know about WWE.

The rest of America will see a fake pro wrestler coming out with what is supposed to be a legit fighter and wonder if UFC is just the next wave of pro wrestling.

FX or not, I bet Undertaker will do what he wants to and will be watching ringside. I wonder if A&E is linked with Fox just incase Steven Segal walks with *insert Brazilian fighter here*

It's not just about exposure. CM Punk would "add" to Fox's prime time programming.

At this point, Vince is the biggest hindrance to the WWE. Every bad decision, stupid story line, firing of good people and elevating of no-charisma losers comes down to him. Vince really needs to step away, retire, and let HHH and Stephanie run the show.

Vince should only step down when it comes to talent areas, he still should be involved in business deals but this WWE network looks to be a possible disaster
