Who else here is in college, what are you taking this semester, and what is your goal?

I'm in a community college right now going for my AS before I transfer to a 4 year and get a BS in some field of Biology.

This semester I am taking 2 required courses for my major, General Chemistry 2 and Calculus 1, and three graduation requirements, an interdisciplinary course called Individuals and Society, an art class, Music History and Appreciation, and a political course, American Government.

My overall goal is to become a high school science teacher.

I'm still taking classes even though I got a job in the field I wanted to anyway. Meanwhile, the school dropped radio production from the communications program, so it's really no big deal what classes I take now. This semester it's Photography, Media Law, Business 101 and an advanced PowerPoint class. I only have 2 or 3 require classes left, so I suppose I'll take those in the spring and finish up.

Ashford University; online college rules. In my senior year of a BA in Political Science. No clue what the fuck I am going to do with it, though. Couldn't pass up a free education from the G.I. Bill and politics is about all that interests me.

I've got a huge project going on at work, so I'm taking some time off from college. I'm working on a degree in Network and Communications Management. I'm doing it at DeVry - Online. I've got a few semesters left.

This semester may kill me. Just from the first day of classes I already have a metric shit ton of homework, mostly from my calculus class. Also, one of the books I have to read for my Individuals and Society class may make me want to rip my brain out.

I'm probably going to start looking into getting into a Masters program somewhere near where I live. Probably Sam Houston State or Texas A&M. I haven't really even looked into it, it's just an idea since I have a few buddies who couldn't find jobs right out of school who decided to get into a Masters program while the economy hopefully turns around and opens up new jobs (unlikely, but one can hope).

Which book? I took a course called The Individual and Society as an elective and it was one of the most useful courses I've had. Went over Mill, Locke, Marx, Plato and Aristotle, and love or hate Marx it's a good thing to understand it. Course was pretty rigorous, it's the only one where I was actually afraid to miss a single class (and probably the only course in which I never did).

Gen chem 2 was crazy shit. I busted my ass just to fail with a 59 and a half. Then came back in the summer and got a A+ with hardly any effort. They called it a "weed out course" and I think the old fuck prof was proud of it, probably had a little sadism going on.

Just a sociology course and anatomy for me this fall.

The book is called Victims of Progress, and is all about the destruction of small scale societies due to advanced globalization. This is more of an anthropology/sociology class than a philosophy class. However, after my first reading assignments in both that and my American Government classes, I have a feeling that book is going to be a cake walk compared to Readings in American Politics. Holy shit the first essay in there was like a communist diatribe written by some dead fucker called Mancur Olsen Jr. or some shit like that. It seemed that every other thing out of this guys pen was "greater good". I mean this guy would make Tea Party people think Obama was all right after all.

Protip: Start looking and sending out applications now. It fucking blows when you get out of college and realize that you're 3+ months behind everyone else in terms of applying for jobs.

I have been applying to temporary jobs at the moment. Jobs that will pay my loans while I update and improve on my portfolio.

Good. Anything that can lead to something better in your field is great. I really regret not getting a job in my field of study prior to graduation because it's really fucked me good in terms of paying off my student loans.

Just make sure you let your potential employers that you're going to be graduated at a certain date. It sounds stupid but employers that know you are graduating fresh out of college (and potentially still have a ton of fresh knowledge floating around in your head) is very enticing. Also, being young* is a plus since they might think they will get you for a longer period of time.

*I don't know how old you are and am just going off my own personal experience.

I'm in class right now... I've got a test today, and I'm going to cheat my balls off.

My trick is I get to class 20 minutes early and pretend like I'm studying. What I'm really doing is writing all of the stuff I was supposed to have memorized on the top of my desk in pencil. The desk is dark brown, and the only way you can see the writing is if you look at it with the glare just right. After the test... wipe it clean. The perfect crime.

I'm a naughty boy.

I did the exact same thing for a quiz last week but then I felt guilty and wiped it off before it started. What a boy scout. (actually I'm paranoid the prof might be psychic)

The broad who's teaching my class is a bloated disaster. She's easily 300 bills and she's got some sort of back problem. It takes everything she's got to heave herself out of her chair. I highly doubt she'll ever bother coming over to look at my desk, and she sure as shit isn't going to be sneaking up on me.

Now... what is this "guilt" you speak of?

Which CC? I'm at NCC, but I actually enjoy it. I think it's because I have only had teachers that give a fuck. Well, except 2, but they were cunts anyhow.

We used to cheat in power school, but the fucking desks were white so I couldn't use this method. (Did it all the time in HS)

Other favorite methods were programming formulas into calculators, good old fashioned looking at the neighbor's paper, etc. The best one, though, if you use one of those clear bic pens:

You can wrap a cheat sheet around the ink cartridge and the clear casing kind of magnifies it so you can read it.

I think American kids are looking for easy money... not bothering to get smart in life.... paying for intelligence is not how it works.... I can do what I do because I lived life... crazy people, criminals,liars,scammers,profiling,reality......college is the opposite of what you need to know to make money... Unless its your dads friend, etc.
