Do yourself a favor, watch it. Bored? There's 90 minutes for ya. This shit happened to my dad, but thankfully he was able to hang on... but still fighting to this day. I know it came out a while ago, but I just found it on the internet for free. It angers me to no end. Actually, this may be the first time that I am proud to be in Berkeley. The hippies don't stand for this shit at all. Thank god.

This really was a very good documentary, or rockumentary if you will. I've never set foot in a wal mart in my life, but after seeing this I want the whole fucking thing to crumble.

And not to be Neddy Nitpick, but I believe it is called "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Prices."

The retards in the town next to where I grew up in want a Wal-Mart in there town like there is no tomorrow. I see all of these shops in town with Wal-mart yes signs, and a few no. The town is already on the verge of collapse it seems and here is a map with all of the Wal-Mart's within out region. 12 FUCKING STORES WITHIN AN HOUR DRIVE

i avoid wal mart, but some times its a necessary evil, around here, the "mom&pop" stores have either shitty hours or dont have what i need, walmart is open at 7 closes at 10, and has a midget..... how can you pass up a midget, a box of shot gun shells, and some grey market potato chips

I watched it and it made me angry, I can't believe people still shop there. I don't have one too close, but that is because I live in a pretty urban part of Columbus. I have not been to one in years.

I also lost a SHITLOAD of respect for Penn And Teller because of the Wal-Mart episode/advertisment of Bullshit. I actually stopped watching the show because I felt that there was NO fucking way that they could actually believe what they were saying.

Nothing is more depressing than imagining being a Walmart greeter in your twilight years.

I think I've seen that documentary or at least one really similar to it. They did a segment in a town near where I live. They talked about how Walmart caused the local television manufacturing plant to shut down. They showed the typical old factory buildings with locked gates and weeds growing up all around the place. The only problem is that the video they showed was from a water treatment plant nearby that was being phased out or something. The television plant did shut down temporarily, but opened again soon under new ownership. It just made me wonder how many other "facts" were skewed.

I brought this exact documentary up in my Business Ethics class today. For some reason my professor didn't appreciate my argument. I believe the question posed was "Do you believe that it is ok to outsource American jobs." Everyone in the class basically said no. He asked if anyone disagreed and I raised my hand. My reasoning "Its a necessary evil of the business world. Since we're in business ethics you need to look at it from both sides. Sure, some Americans may lose their job but we're also getting massively cheap products on the backs of foreigners. Look at a country like China, they maybe making 10 cents an hour but they would be making nothing if it wasn't for the foreign company providing jobs. Theres a big difference between exploiting the world for massive profits like Walmart does and sharing your profits with the world. Bill Gates is out of his mind and practically donated everything he has to making the world a better place. Whether you agree or not, theres an obvious ethical difference between a company like Walmart and one like Microsoft."

Apparently, since its Ethics 101, the argument was too indepth for him. Or hes just pissed about outsourcing, either way....

That's my beef with locally owned stores. I'm off work at 8 pm every night. There aint shit open! I guess Berkeley has a code that says retailers must close at 7... or something stupid. 7cent probably knows better than I. So, I have to go to the next town over because they have the big stores like Best Buy that are actually open! It's typically for video games and shit though.

Me too. Not only is it closer, but I don't have to deal with the drooling retard that Wal-Mart has greeting the customers at the door.

You guys have an actual retard door greeter?

We have a legless, blind war vet who is in a chair and has a German Shepard seeing eye dog. Oh and my uncle too.. failure of the family, real class act.

Wal-Mart runs on customers. People go to Wal-Mart from the town and buy their things because it's cheaper and more convenient. That's the free enterprise system, if you can't compete, you sink under. Wal-Mart started as a small one store company too.

Same shit in my town. We had one of the older Wal Marts that closed at 10 and did not have a grocery. When they built the supercenter they had the fucking cheerleaders from our high school, carnival ride and fucking ponys for the kids to take pictures with. I never in my life wanted someone to nuke our town from orbit so much.

I didn't watch the documentary yet. But Wal Mart is an aids infected cunt to work for. There break system makes it so you can't get overtime. Much less full time unless your sucking the managers cock.

But Wal Mart is a neccesary evil. For like little stuff there ok. But these dumb mother fuckers buy TV's and Furniture. I've had to bring as many TV's back in the store as i've loaded into someone's car. They're shit.

I've worked at 2 different walmarts. One in PA where I was making a measly 7.40 an hour, and I transfered to one in deepest darkest Mississippi where i'm making 5.90. Just preponderous how little I make.

My Wal*Mart tv is still working, and it works great. My only complaint is the tuner has a .5 delay when switching channels. I'm spoiled by my old satellite receiver which did it in about .1. .5 is an eternity when you are flipping channels.

What really bugs me is people who complain about Wal*Mart's pay / work conditions. Don't work there if you don't like it. You know what you are getting into, no one is forcing you to work there. It's just another option.
