Under the terms of the Sequestration Transparency Act signed in August

Wtf we are only barely in September and a legal deadline that was signed less than a month ago is already broken. This administration is beyond pathetic. Way to stay on top of things that need to get done.

If the WH specifies where the mandatory defense cuts will be made, the affected defense contractors are required by law to issue 90-day warning pink slips - right before the election.

Well with it being a campaign year they definitely can't release any info that will hurt his poll numbers.

It looks real good when they sign the Act though. The media picks up on it with their big headlines and all of the left's pundits talk about how our government is doing these things to be more transparent, upfront, and act like they're on top of things. Then at a later date...they completely ignore it and the story gets buried in the papers.

Looks like it gets buried here too.

The usual suspects seem awfully quiet.

It's the same thing as when then-Senator Obama co-sponsored legislation requiring administrations to give 30 days advance notice of termination for Inspector Generals and that the reason for termination needs to also be explained and outlined. How long did it take...6 months into his Presidency, he ignored his own law by firing that Americorps IG when the IG suggested to Congress that they should come down harder on one of Obama's buddies for using grant money for his own personal use. Then when the IG went public about his firing, the White House smeared him by claiming he was going senile.

And remember when Obama got a transparency award...in a ceremony closed to the media and public? Ahh yes.

We can go on and on on the bullshit, double-standard, hypocritical crap this administration has been doing these last few years. (Inb4 BUT BUSH....!!! :icon_cool)

Congress is in recess until Monday.

has been so since early Aug.

but yes... you all are right, this just PROVES that Obama is a communist hell bent on destroying this country. I mean ANYONE in gov. that misses a legislative deadline by a few days should be removed from office.

Funny though that this whole thing is brought about by the "Super Committee" not meeting its deadline to reach a deal in the first place. But hey, that will be lost on most here... and I can see the usual crew are already out in force and jacking it over this. and I can see that psycho has continued his typical pattern of doing nothing but just launching attacks. When is this psycho going to end up banned?

So what you are saying is that this administration signed a legal document knowing full well that congress would be in recess so they didnt have to adhere to the date agreed upon. Ok got it check

I didnt say that at all. The admin COULDNT have submitted it to congress on friday, since no one was there. That wont stop idiots from trying to make political hay over it though. I didnt say that they knew they "wouldnt have to adhere to it"... by all rights they should submit it on monday which they have said they will be a few days beyond that.

actually its pretty well defined what is going to happen under sequestration. Its laid out in legislation that was written long ago. So this is really nothing but grandstanding. but hey, dont let that stop you from trying to make a huge deal out of it. Have fun.

the irony is that this is all because the Super Committee couldnt do their job by their deadline.

Not sure if you guys are political nerds/CSPA watchers like me, but this is common stuff in a lot of democracies.

Missing budget deadlines happns more often than not. According to the Congressional Research Service, since the original budget timetable was established in 1974, Congress has met the budget resolution deadline only six times, most recently in 2003.

The "Super Committee" was never meant to succeed. It had one purpose, and that was to fool people into accepting the raised debt ceiling.

Have you heard a single thing about it since it was created? Both Republicans and Democrats probably thought it would look better if the cuts were "automatic", rather than actually putting their names on them.

No I havent heard anything about it since it no longer exists. It had a function, to come up with a compromise before a deadline or else the "poison pill" of sequestration would take effect. They failed to meet the deadline. Sequestration took effect. From that point forward there is no reason to hear anything more about the Super Committee.

then why are the Republicans seeking to block the cuts?
