The classics aside, 5 newer horror movies I've loved are:

Dawn of the Dead (Zack Snyder version)

The Ring (American version. The Japanese one just didn't click with me)

Saw (Just the first one. Even though the third one had the most awful trap of the whole series. The first one was the only movie that really scared me)

The Descent (Fucking awesome. Neil Marshall rules)

The Mist (Frank Darabont version. If you watch it in Black and White, as originally intended, the CGI works much better. A pretty horrifying film in my opinion)

Dead Alive
Wrong Turn (2 and 3 sucked major balls...don't even bother with them)
Saw
Hostel
Hatchet...over the top gore and Kane Hodder as Hatchet

I just watched Zombieland on netflix last night based on Patrice liking it so much, and it was actually really good and hilarious. I know its kind of dumb and makes it into a comedy but it was solid for a quick movie you throw on. The Bill Murray part was the best.

That and Shaun of the dead really pulled it off. Shaun of the Dead was pretty much a parody of Zombie movies, though. Zombieland really is a pure zombie oriented comedy. And it works. One of the best flicks of 2009.

Movie was so hack, but I loved it. Pointless gore rules.

For my personal choices:

Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Descent
In the Mouth of Madness
Jaws
Trick 'R Treat(Halloween really needs to come quickly so I can watch this again)

Hoffman

Guess who's back? Hoffman's back

Trick 'R Treat(Halloween really needs to come quickly so I can watch this again)

this movie was fucking great. It was like a newer version of creepshow(which the newest creepshow sucked a dick)

My favorites would be

Texas Chainsaw massacre(1974)

Sleepaway Camp(1983)

Dawn of the Dead(original and remake)

and Hatchet is an underrated throwback horror movie with awesome gore and a very nostalgic feeling to it.

also monsterman was very good and underrated.

Are we talking "All-Time" horror faves? To me, the ones that scared the living SHIT out of me were the old Hammer films from the 60's. I realize i'm showing my age, but they gave me nightmares as a kid. "FREAKS" is one old time horror film i can't watch to this day!

I liked Dee Snyders "Strangeland" and I remember "Candyman" being creepy. The only movie that ever gave me nightmares was "Brokeback Mountain".

#24
he said horror, not comedy

Most of the ones mentioned already but one was left out, Phantasm.

Going with the classics I like. Nosferatu (1922), Frankenstein (1931), Dracula (1931)
and an old fun one... Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein

Trick 'R Treat was awesome. Another newish horror movie that I really, really liked was Dog Soldiers. Awesome werewolf movie centered around British (iirc) Soldiers out in the woods training.
