When I was a kid, the kids in my elementary school were split down the middle between KISS and Elvis Presley. . . fist-fights would breakout on the playground everyday about who was better. This was about 1976. . . I'm an old bastard.:p

First thing I remember really liking or hearing for that matter was when I was in 3rd grade, hanging out at a friend's house was Pinball Wizard. Don't remember if it was The Who or Elton John version.

Never was really into any bands until I was in like 6th or 7th grade.

Metallica, Guns N' Roses, The Doors, Testament, and a lot of oldies.

Then around middle school it was out with the mullets and in with the grunge but I still liked metal.

The first album I bought was Quiet Riot - Mental Health, then Twister Sister shortly after. This was probably 1983/84.

The first album I wore out (yes, had to buy another one because the grooves got worn) was Billy Joel's "The Stranger".

The first cassette I bought was Rush's Moving Pictures. I remember that distinctly. I bought it at K-Mart.

My first cassette tapes were:
Men at Work - Business as Usual
The Police - Synchronicity
The Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil
Ratt - Out of the Cellar
Miami Vice Soundtrack
Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry

Not a bad collection, I guess. I remember really wanting Def Leppard's Pyromania during those years and not being able to get it because K-Mart never had it.

I'll throw myself under the bus and say I also bought the LP version of 'Raising Hell' by Run DMC. No shame in that except that I wanted the LP version so I could 'scratch'. I get douche chills just thinking about it.

The earliest ones I can remember really liking were on MTV when they played music:

Enter Sandman & The Unforgiven-Metallica
November Rain-Guns N Roses
Crazy & Jannies got a gun-Aerosmith
Smells like teen spirit-Nirvana

Anything between then and mid-high school I'm too ashamed to acknowledge.:icon_redf
