I'm seeing some ridiculous deals on Acer and some other brands I've never heard of before. Do they have a good rep? if not, what are some good brands to look at? I have a 21" Samsung I really like, still good after 18 months.

I just bought an Acer 24" for $299 after rebate. No dead pixels, great picture. Overall Im very happy with my purchase, and I've had all Samsungs in the past. I've bought about 8 Acer 17"s for customers and they are all still in use, well past the 1 year mark with no problems.

The other no-name brands I'd be slightly hesitant to buy...They are most likely made by a more well known manufacturer. At least Acer has been around for a while and has some foundation in computers/electronics.

I despise Dells PC's but they make a good LCD monitor. I have the 24" and am lusting after the newer 32". When it makes it to 1k I will buy.

Also, dont overlook HD LCD TV's for a monitor. They have more-than-adequate resolution settings and great picture quality. Plus, nothing beats parking your face in front of a screen that extends to the edges of your peripheral vision.

I spend 8+ hours a day staring at a Dell 24" widescreen at work. I'm not sure if Dell actaully makes any monitors themselves, but I know for a fact that this one is a Samsung with a Dell label on it. At any rate, it's fucking wonderful to stare at.

I bought the $180 22" Acer AL2223W from Best Buy back in May. I can't say a bad thing about it. No light bleeding or dead pixels. I would recommend an Acer to anyone.

Acer is a good brand. they are not the highest quality in LCD's but for the price there not bad at all. Most people will not be able to tell much of a difference. To be honest there the best low priced LCD's out there. For the average consumer there more than enough.

Exactly, I was about ready to purchase the Samsung 245BW 24" for $549 but this Acer suits me just fine for $250 less.

Acer is my preferred choice for my clients - great bang for the buck. I've used a few of the Hanns-G lately and they have been good as well.

Samsung, LG and Viewsonic are good choices if you can find deals on them.
