Disclaimer: I am not asking which drugs inspire or cause the best music, but which drugs are associated with your favorite music? Also, I'm pretty high right now.

Heroin makes a strong statement, with jazz greats like Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and Miles Davis, along with punk icons like Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Thunders, Sid Vicious, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, and the great Kurt Cobain.

Cocaine gives us the early blues geniuses and late 1970's David Bowie, but also gave us Def Leppard and Poison. I'd say it's a wash.

Weed: Pretty much everyone, so a good choice. The Beatles (I could stop right there), Jimi Hendrix, Beastie Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, A Tribe Called Quest.

Crystal meth: Um, Brokencyde?

Alcohol: Uhh, maybe Bruce Springsteen? I didn't really think about it.

If the drugs are good you don't need music.

I hate all that shit, personally. So Heroin is my least favorite.

I'll have to go with Acid. Beatles, Floyd, The Doors (to a lesser extent) etc. Weed doesn't count because everyone smokes weed.

Heroin - Punk and grunge. Enough said.

I have a problem with the poll, though. Why is LSD not an option? That would've been my second choice.

A combo of 8% Chimay beer, 10mg Lortab, and an Ativan makes any music better to listen to.

I don't really get it either.
You say not asking which drugs inspired or caused music, but then say that Cocain gave us the early blues like Bowie?

You can pretty much associate any drug with any genre IMO

And picking Bruce Springsteen as the representative for alcohol shows how retarded this thread is.

I can kind of see that, just as the "Common man" thing.
Having a few beers in an alley, listening to Bruce wax on about New Jersey...

I don't think there's a Alcohol band.

And with a lot of "drug bands" you can associate 5-10 drugs with each; Like Phish, Grateful Dead, Rave Bands, etc.
At any concert I assume there's at least 10 different types of drugs being done.

I know he's given up the bottle, but I when I think alcohol and musician, my first thought is Tom Waits. Maybe Elliot Smith. Maybe Warren Zevon. And of course Chumbawamba.

Your comment. "Having a few beers in an alley, listening to Bruce wax on about New Jersey..." You're thinking of the mindset of the person listening to the music. I'm thinking of the musician himself.

Interpol's first album. Anything from any of the members of Odd Future, those motherfuckers are drunk constantly. NoFX for sure, just to make a nice even 3.

Really? Why's that?
I have the records, and like it, but never really associated it.
I don't know anything about the band really though

I guess its just the vibe that I get from that album. Its all snowfall, scarves, cigarettes, and a gin and tonic. Its a feeling that has caused me to get that album out every early winter just for the atmosphere of it all. It may have to do with a sentimentality that I have for the time in my life when it came out but putting that album on on a still December evening sends my nostalgia engine into over drive.

I could write a journal entry type post about that album but Ill stop now.

Yeah, I really like that album, but don't really associate it with anything.
Maybe even Summer, because I think that's when I bought it. Last Summer maybe...

It guess it has more of a winter feel though
