Wife Of Rep. Bob Brady Interrupts Break-In At Their Philadelphia Home
June 15, 2012 6:00 PM
By Kim Glovas and Anne-Marie Greene

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The wife of Pennsylvania US Congressman Bob Brady interrupted an apparent break-in at the couple’s Overbrook home this morning, driving off a trio of burglars, according to the congressman and Philadelphia police.

Police say Debra Brady ignored a knock on the door at about 11am this morning. About an hour later, investigators say, her television signal went off when someone cut the TV cable and the wires for the burglar alarm.

According to Congressman Brady (D-Pa.), who spoke with KYW Newsradio, Mrs. Brady heard someone at the back door of the home in the 7000 block of Brentwood Road. When she opened a window blind and looked outside, one man was at the door and two others — all wearing surgical masks and hoodies — were sitting on the patio furniture.

“I was a wreck, I didn’t know what to do,” said Mrs. Brady.

She yelled and banged on the window from the inside, according to Rep. Brady, scaring them off. He says she called 911 from her cell phone and Phladelphia police responded immediately.

Mrs. Brady was not injured, and Rep. Brady was not at home when the incident occurred.

Rep. Brady and his wife do not believe they were targeted because he is a congressman. However, at about 5 p.m., police released new information regarding Congressman Brady’s office building at Broad and Miflin streets in South Philadelphia. Authorities say someone threw a bottle at a window, shattering the glass. Police have made an arrest in this incident (see related story).

They do not believe there is a connection to the attempted break-in. The investigation continues.
And the vandalism story at his office...

Police: Congressman Brady Targeted In Second, Possibly Unrelated Incident
June 15, 2012 7:33 PM

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A man suspected of throwing a bottle and shattering the glass of a window at Congressman Bob Brady’s office building in South Philadelphia Friday afternoon has been arrested. The arrest comes hours after three unidentified men tried to break in to the congressman’s home in Overbrook Farms (see related story).

At about 4 p.m., employees were inside Rep. Brady’s office in the 1900 block of South Broad Street when they heard a cracking sound. They soon discovered a bottle was thrown through a window in the front of the office. Fortunately, no one was injured.

A male employee reportedly followed the man to Moore Street and Passyunk Avenue where police made the arrest.

Police do not believe the act of vandalism is connected to the attempted break-in earlier Friday.

Authorities continue to investigate both incidents.

The first reaction should be to arm yourself. Then, mentally prepare yourself to defend yourself.

They were probably casing the place. Having ignored the knock they waited
an hour and didn't see anyone come or go so they figured nobody was home.

Big barking mutts would be a nice deterrent.

I am disappoint. Was hoping they were wearing masks of ex-presidents instead. What better way to freak out the wife of a politician?
