Anyone using Win-Doze ME and any comments ??

I read afew artical's about this OS , but the only good-things I really got out of them is that ME boots up faster then 98.

It sucks, Take it from me... It came with my new PC and I had to reformat and put 98 in. For some reason it is not compatable with a lot of programs. and STAY AWAY from IE5.5 stay with IE5.01. theres so much I can say about this and its problem on 2 (TWO) different computers of mine but i don't feel like typing. For some strange reason it runs perfectly on my HP laptop...

OK listen...

Windows ME: Now is a good time to go for it... Never upgrade your Windows PC when the newest OS is out, always wait a good 3 or 4 months. WinME is more stable cuz most of DOS has been removed. Most Win98 commercial software will work, but it all depends. Make sure you have the latest software. I had WinME RC1 running on my laptop, no problems.

Win98- Wait for whistler, the Win 2k meets Win 9x and MSN Explorer. This supposedly is the best thing goin... But I dunno yet. If you haven't updated to ME, wait for Whistler, unless you can get the cds for free.

Nope. Windows 6.0 is codenamed Whistler. It's Win9x mixed with Win NT, with some other new tools. I've seen screen shots of it and it looks great. I think that Microsoft got it right.... They need to totally kill DOS and work from the ground up.

DOS? Are you serious?! What class is this for?! Dude, in this day and age, you will never EVER use or need DOS. And if you ever do, it's on utility CDs for your hard drives.

Windows ME sucks you have to update everything else (ie. drivers) just to keep up with it and there is not that much new. Keep the OS your on unless you need ME for a specific task!

That's not really true. I just installed WinME. My modem and soundcard are running Win98 drivers and I have NO problems!

Whistler is now called Windows XP.

The next version of Office will also be called Office XP.

Hey AntD, what happened to Office.Net? And if you see this Stingray, you're SO right about WinME... I'm back on Win98.

I heard that Microsoft is still trying to work out the bugs on Windows ME. Thats problay why your having problems cause it still fairly new.

#16
bugs? it's friggin infested. DOS has always been part of the A+ certification. Its kind of simple though. I learned it years ago when windows 3.1 was out, A lot of programs back then used DOS only

Now Microsoft need to learn the same thing...
