I just moved back with my parents It's cheaper to take my last two classes online than to live in Pittsburgh at the moment, and they have a modem to computer setup. I need recommendations for an affordable and reliable router. Any help would be appreciative.

Go to Wal Mart and buy a Netgear, Linksys or Belkin wireless router for $40. For your purposes, they'll be fine.

I just needed to upgrade mine and ended up going with the Netgear one out of these two. They both have a USB port to allow connecting a USB external hard drive, turning it into a network drive. The D-Link goes one better by allowing you to connect a printer, making it a wireless network printer, but since you couldn't do both at the same time I went with the Netgear since I don't need wireless network printing.

They're both N routers and have gigabit hardwire connections so it'll be awhile before they're obsolete. The Netgear allows for easy install of open-source Tomatousb firmware on it if you're into that sort of thing.
