Just got a Gamestop newsletter, and they are offering the HD DVD drive for the xbox for only $49...while supplies last. Is it worth buying it?

eh, like its cool having another drive on my x-box. Like if I want to watch a movie on it I don't have to take out my game. If you have an extra 50 bucks what the hell. The movies are becoming very cheap too (that was expected though).

For $50, it's all right. They won't make HD-DVDs anymore, but at least you can use it as a secondary drive or you can just run your DVDs on it to save your XBox from playing DVDs.

Good point Bill.

Wait for the Blu-ray add on and DL HD movies. I am so glad i never pulled the trigger on the hd-dvd add on, mainly because the player lacked simple features as bookmarking and such.

Ive heard it doesnt even play a lot of HD DVDS.

So you're buying an outdated player that doesnt even work on all of its outdated movies.

i have one and like it. I only bought a few hd dvd movies for it though, Heroes being the main one. It is worth 50 bucks as was said before, for the simple fact that you can pick up a few movies you want and get a cheap hd player and an extra drive for your 360.

I just wish I could figure a way to put the hd dvd drive into my 360 so I don't have to piggy back the fucker though.

I was just in our local mom and pop video rental store. They still have games for obsolete systems for sale...at full price. I saw a game for the Sega Game Gear, still wrapped and unopened for $38.00. They have two shelves of unopened SNES and Sega Genesis games too for $40.00 and $50.00. They've been sitting so long the light in the store and the sunlight coming through the front window has faded them.

I can't help but wonder who they think is going buy this stuff.
