This shit is going to continue unabated in Philly until there is a Bernie Goetz type of incident.

Yeah... because the Bernie Goetz incident really improved the behavior of the NY savages.

It's debatable...

After reaching an all-time peak in 1990, crime in New York City dropped dramatically through the rest of the 1990s. As of 2006, New York had statistically become one of the safest large cities in the U.S., with its crime rate being ranked 194th of the 210 American cities with populations over 100,000. New York City crime rates in the years 2000-2005 were comparable to those of the early 1960s.

Goetz and others have interpreted the significance of his actions in the subway incident as a contributing factor precipitating the groundswell movement against crime in subsequent years. While that claim is impossible to verify, Goetz achieved celebrity status as a popular cultural symbol of a public disgusted with urban crime and disorder.

That was Rudy's doing... not Bernie's.
True, but I was addressing the inference that crime didn't decrease.

And, one could argue that the growth in anti-crime sentiment contributed to Rudy getting elected.

I have to go to questionable areas in Philly for work all the time. There is a company policy against being armed. I am currently considering disregarding this policy.

I would be willing to bet that the PC news media is leaving out one word. The thugs probably added "white" in front of geezer.

You now what that's all about? That's your company telling you that they'd rather you get mugged, assaulted, killed, etc... rather than they get sued because you defended yourself.

Fuck those assholes. Take care of you, not them.

Exactly. Techincally, the existing policy they have may not apply to me. I had my lawyer look at it and he said it doesn't because I am out in the field and haven't set foot on "company property" in 5 years. He advised me to not seek clarification because that would lead to them broadening the scope to directly include employees like myself who aren't ever on "company property" at all.

That's a nice loophole you got. We were never allowed to carry. I think the wording was "while on company business". In fucking Detroit. Thankfully, the second company I worked for actively encouraged people to carry.

Girlfriend is hospice nurse on call all night, goes to the worst areas imagineable, usually carrying morphine and other narcotics, dealing with families trying to scam drugs. Fat ass white looking girl at in the hood at 4am....and her work has stopped allowing her to take an armed guard with her "because it costs too much"

Some companies fucking blow.
