Due to a tangent taken in the three word thread, I figured I would start up this discussion here.

man you are weak

I'll give you Bebop because it's amazing but any anime list where neon genesis isnt in the top 1 is fucking bullshit.

Evangelion is the greatest cartoon ever

Noteworthy series

Neon genesis evangelion
Berserk
magical shopping arcade abenobashi
FLCL
Mobile suit gundam 0079, 0080, 0083
Astro boy
DragonBall z/GT
Cowboy bebop
samurai champloo
Uresai Yatsura (LUM)
Gunsmith Cats

As far as movies

Ninja scroll
mobile suit gundam - chars counter attack
Neon genesis - death/rebirth and End of evangelion
Fist of the north star
Princess Mononoke
spirited away
howls moving castle
Porco Roso
Akira
Cowboy bebop movie

I am sure I am leaving stuff out

FLCL does rule, and Dragonball will always have a special place in my heart as it was the show that got me into anime to begin with. I did over look one of my favourites in my list. I would put Inuyasha above Big O honestly. Another show I neglected was Lupin the Third.

Neo Genesis I never really got into. Gundam I do enjoy, never got really into it, but I would never turn it off.

Holy fuck how the hell did I neglect Full Metal Alchemist?

I was also a big fan of Case Closed, a detective like anime series.

Witch Hunter Robin was also very good.

I always wanted to make an anime thread just to get some recommendations from people here but something about this board made me think I'd just get flamed for it. Anyhooooo....I've got gigs and gigs of stuff I haven't even watched yet...But from the stuff I have watched...

1. Bleach (Any non-filler episode)
2. Suzumiya Haruhi No Yuutsu (Highly recommend if you haven't watched it, possibly the best first episode of anything ever, the rest is fantastic too)
3. FMA
4. Cowboy Bebop (This is what got me hooked on anime, before then I thought it was all dragon ball z and pokemon faggotry)
5. Elfen Lied
6. Samurai Champloo
7. School Rumble
8. Noir
9. Blood+
10. Shakugan no Shana

I tried my best to make a top 10 but I'm not entirely happy with it, don't hold me to it too much. Plus 75% of the stuff I have I haven't watched yet, so I'm sure I'm missing some good shit. Honorable mentions...

Gungrave (Surprisingly good, don't watch the first episode)
Kanon 2 (Awwww!)
Beck (Makes me laugh when they speak english)
Monster
Higurashi no naku koro ni
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (This blew me away only because I knew nothing about it prior to watching it, holy shit)
Evangelion (I think it's a bit overrated, especially toward the end of the series when they ran out of money, but still decent)
Mai Hime
Sola (Very solid show, would have been easy for them to fuck up the ending)
Tokko (Haven't finished but it looks good)
Black Lagoon (Same)
Innocent Venus (Same)
Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho (Same)

Only Anime show i watch religiously is the subbed Bleach episodes. Bleach Movie isn't that bad either.. but it was a little inuyasha-ish.

Other than that, Balzac/Mark has most of my favorites also listed.

NGE is hands down my favorite. Akira was great if you want a good one-off movie.

If you're an anime fan there are certain must watch movies

Akira is probably the definitive anime movie
Any and every Miyazaki movie but mostly the ones he wrote and directed
Fist of the North Star
Ninja Scroll
Metropolis
for DBZ fans the broly movies are probably the best ones except for the one where its not really him, aside from that, the history of trunks and movie 13 (cant remember the name)

and for series, berserk

most of these have been listed but these are absolutely must watch

do we have a manga thread?

Not a big fan of the anime but I really enjoyed FLCL, so that takes top place. Right now I'm enjoying Naruto Shippuuden, the pre-time skip show is interesting but Shippuuden is more up my alley.
