Your Mouse...It's...Dying.

At random intervals, for 2-3 seconds, it stops working. A beep comes from my tower, and it kicks back in. So it's on it's last legs.

Need a new one, but I can't get the the G5 anymore as it's out of date. Any advice on a mouse preferably with 7 buttons? Less/more buttons I'm open to. I guess the G9, but I've yet to go looking at any reviews. Would rather go with the Tech Support Forum here, as it has yet to steer me wrong.

I'd try using the mouse on another computer and see if it acts the same way. It could be a symptom of another problem.

I'll repeat the 'try it on another PC/USB port'
And if it really does need replacing, get a Logitech MX mouse.

Yessir. At this point I'm leaning towards motherboard crapping out (other issues with that) or the mouse. It's a good 3 years old at the point (both mobo/mouse).

Nah, still happening intermittently.
Perhaps the computer and mouse are both fine, and you're having a series of mini-strokes. Ok, maybe not.....I had the same problem about a year ago, and it was the mouse itself, so it was an easy fix.

Would get a trackball, but I'm too set in my ways to get used to something new.

Only found a couple of G5's (1 new in box for 180.00 on ebay which can go fuck itself, couple used but fuck that) that are inaccessible. Will have to bite the bullet and go search out one of those mentioned, or find something completely new.
